Having a few rough days, on top of being physically sick in the first place, so I just haven’t much to say right now beyond “bleh” and some general moaning and groaning. But still, Blooming Lotus sent out a general call for help promoting isurvive.org, so I feel compelled to pitch in what little bit I can.
I’m afraid that’s about as productive as I can manage to be today, though. And having done that I’ll be heading right back to bed to hack and groan for a while more…

This blog post is part of Zemanta’s “Blogging For a Cause” campaign to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes that bloggers care about.

“LONDON – A FEMALE model who felt she was a man and attracted to women, has had a sex change and discovered she’s now a gay man.
Katherine Dalton was a sucessful glamour model in her teens and 20s, reported The Sun newspaper, who had a troubled secret.

‘For years I was a man trapped in a woman’s body. And although I was a beautiful woman I felt ugly because I was not who I wanted to be,” the 31-year-old told The Sun.

But after a sex change undertaken in her early 20s, Katherine became Adrian. He works for an investment firm, reported news.com.au.

“Now I feel complete and it is fantastic,” Adrian/Katherine said.

“Going through the op to be a man was scary but it’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve done and I feel right for the first time in my life.”

Adrian/Katherine underwent two years of psychotherapy and was diagnosed as a transexual.

‘By the end of the second year of therapy I’d cut my hair short and started asking friends to call me Adrian,” he said.

‘There’s no special significance in the name – I just wanted something that didn’t sound as butch as Dave or Mike.’

However, unexpected, Adrian discovered after the operation that he was actually gay, reported The Sun.

‘I used to be attracted to women in my teens but I now consider myself gay,” he said. “

Sheesh. Where do I even start?

Do I point out that this woman’s sexual orientation, which the current accepted stance on the issue insists is immutable, utterly changed?
Do I point out that the psychological screening process for transexuals is revealed as the complete bunk that it is?

Good Lord, this poor woman finally comes around to the idea that men are attractive…long after she’s already mutilated herself to the point where…what?…her prospects are largely limited to faux gay male relationships.

Who’s to blame here? Her for being confused to the point of delusion or the system that’s so hell bent on justifying homosexuality and “transgender” that it willingly aids her in mutiliating herself?

Folks, this is what you get when psychology becomes a tool for social change rather than an honest, objective study in the interest of healing. On behalf of Katherine Dalton and all others utterly wrecked by the selfish rationalizations of the masses (that’s you!), thanks so very much for throwing us all to the wolves.
Hope that warm fuzzy feeling of progressive enlightenment was worth it.

Spinning around in my head on the drive home just now…so it may suck.
Apologies, but it’s the first in a long time so I gotta run with it.

Carve the body, keep the brain
Spirit open, public view
Grave my name against the grain
Still gotta lot to do

Subtle collar for my throat
Shrouding cloth for my tattoo
I ate the curse the doctor wrote
Still gotta lot to do

These roads and runs need traveling
Ruin and wreck to drive you through
What price from all this lagging on
Outrunning horrors I outgrew

No bargain, barter, dole or deal
No devil’s misbegotten due

I don’t know what I fell into
No vague conception, not a clue

This shadow puppet I pursue
Still gotta lot to do

Relearning everything I knew
Loving life and loving you

Wearing out my walking shoes
Still gotta lot to do

Then you, just off my outward wing

My softly spoken noble king

Your most surprising tongue, that kiss

The pulsing song within my wrists

Oh, hold me when I weary be

And I’ll obey your good decree

Come with me, boy, to far away
Where last I left my truly me
I’ll show you what I found today
Of my long lost identity

If you concede to come along
Each breath I’ll sing of love for you
Come on then, boy, and sing along
We’ve gotta lot to do

“A Louisiana driver was stopped and detained for having a “Don’t Tread on Me” bumper sticker on his vehicle and warned by a police officer about the “subversive” message it sent, according to the driver’s relative.

The situation developed in the small town of Ball, La., where a receptionist at the police department told WND she knew nothing about the traffic stop, during which the “suspect” was investigated for “extremist” activities, the relative said.

It followed by only a few weeks the release of a Department of Homeland Security report, “Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment”, which prompted outrage from legislators and a campaign calling for the resignation of DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano.

The report, which cites individuals who sport certain bumper stickers on their vehicles as suspect, was delivered to tens of thousands of local law enforcement officers across the nation.”

Now this story has made it’s rounds among the conservative blogs and new agencies for the last few days. This, I think, is an example of something that’s bugged me for a long time.

Have conservatives always been as dishonest and rabble-rousing as the liberal knuckleheads? I sure seem to have always thought conservatives tend toward honest, if not always being correct on whatever they’re honest about. Having been a conservative for a while I’m starting to see they’re generally just as reactionary and stupid as liberals sometimes. This story is an example of what I mean.

Here’s the real scoop. I live in Louisiana and when I first heard this story my first impression was not that these police officers pulled this guy over because they were concerned about the bumper sticker on his car. It seemed pretty foolish to me that anyone would assume this. Knowing the cops down here the way I do I know the real reason is much more likely to be that this bumper sticker was just a poor excuse for pulling him over.

Cops down here pull you over for only two reasons:
a) You violated some traffic law or other.
b) They want you to pay for their doughnuts.

It is not at all unusual to find yourself at the receiving end of a shakedown at the hands of cops down here. Most especially the sheriff’s departments of certain areas. Even most especially highway patrol. It’s happened to me a couple of times and I have a lovely story concerning the local sheriff and my mother in law. That guy actually came her home personally on a warrant with his wife in the car with him. He ended up taking my mother in law to jail after a hour long session in her living room because she was too goofy to realize he was just trying to take his wife out to dinner and needed some cash.
I admit that strikes me as a bit hilarious. Not at the mother in law’s expense, mind you. That the sheriff and his old lady went out to dinner and ended up having to cart some old woman off to jail because it never occurred to her to bribe the guy.

Looking this story over it’s obvious to me what happened there. I haven’t any proof, of course, but it’s the only reasonable explanation for it. They were shaking this guy down and the bumper sticker was just an excuse to pull him over. But no one’s suggesting that as an explanation. There’s a single sentence suggesting the cops in the area are prone to padding their funding with aggressive ticketing but that’s it. The rest of the article (and not just at WND but everywhere else on the net that this story appears) is all about the government oppressing conservatives.

This is why the conservative movement is losing ground with the more reasonable folk. If we wanted rabble rousing we’d go be liberals. There’s plenty of that available already. This tact is rather antithetical to conservatism isn’t it?

Meet me here!
